The GBR U19 women ramp up training ahead of their Euro Champs -

With less than two weeks until the start of the LEN U19 women’s European Championships in Madeira (Sept 9-16), the U19 players,  keen to make the best use the remaining time to do as much training as possible, organised a 3 day mini camp in Manchester, which took place Monday to Wednesday this week.  A daily routine of swim and gym sets courtesy of David Lloyd Clubs,  followed by a 1.5 hour session at Manchester Aquatic Centre each evening meant they were able to practise set plays and get in plenty of shooting practice.  London2012 Olympian Chloe Wilcox directed the water polo sessions, to help the girls get the most out of the training.

As well as being an opportunity to work on their skills, it has also been a great team building event and the girls are all excited about the forthcoming competition.

A massive thanks has to go the  water polo community for being so supportive; to Chloe for offering her time and expertise, to CoM water polo for providing the pool time at MAC, and to the Liverpool and Manchester parents for hosting the girls.

The U19s are also having a final push to raise as much money as possible to reduce the financial burden on the players and their families of representing Great Britain at the Championships. The funding page can be found here

In these times of zero funding, all donations are very much appreciated.

Looking forward to watching the team compete in Madeira. Good luck girls! You’ve been a credit to the water polo community. Fantastic people as well as talented players.
Make the most of this last competition together and show the rest of Europe what you can do. X
