Day 1
A winning start for England U19s at the Turbo Cup – an 11-9 victory over Sirens ASC from Malta
This was followed by an 11-6 defeat to local side – and tournament favourites – CN Atlètic-Barceloneta, which was an epic battle and the scoreline somewhat flattered the Spanish side.
Day 2
England U19s made it two wins from two on Day Two at the Turbo Cup. First up was a 13-5 victory over BIWPA Black and that was followed by an outstanding 19-7 win against CN Alcorcón
Day 3
England U19s won their final group match at the Turbo Cup 13-7 versus CN Sant Feliu to set up a semi-final against local side CN Barcelona
Day 4
England U19s went down to a 20-8 semi-final loss to CN Barcelona and then finished 4th at the Turbo Cup after a dramatic bronze medal match against Italian side Athlon Roma finished 7-7.
It took penalties to separate the two powerful sides, who played out an epic battle in the picturesque Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc.
Ultimately, Dean Walker’s squad was unfortunate to lose the shootout 4-3, but this tournament has proved to be a great workout for the players as they continue their preparations for next year’s European Championships Qualifiers
