Game 1 ENG v SUI 30.03.18

Great start for England U16s at the EU Nations as they stormed to a 29-4 (8-0, 6-3, 9-0, 6-1) victory over Switzerland.

England’s strong defensive press and counter proved the difference as they dominated the match from start to finish.

A fantastic team performance and up next for England are the hosts Czech Republic this evening, 7pm start (UK time)

Game 2 ENG v CZE 30.03.18

What a performance! England U16s have made it two wins from two after a hard-fought 10-4 (1-1, 3-1, 2-1, 4-1) win against the hosts Czech Republic.

As the match progressed, England began to edge what was a physical battle and they ultimately proved too strong for the Czechs.

It’s been a Fantastic Good Friday for Sarah Dunsbee’s talented young team, who delivered their second sensational display of the day to take firm control of Group B going into Day Two.

Game 3 ENG v DEN 31.03.18

England U16s have finished top of Group B after beating Denmark 14-8 (3-2, 4-4, 5-0, 2-2) in their final preliminary match here at the EU Nations Junior Women’s Tournament in Brno.

Another impressive performance from our youngsters, who are playing U17 opposition, saw them pull away in the third quarter to guarantee the victory.

After three successive wins, England have ensured a place in the top four and now face Germany in the semi-finals this evening, 7pm start (UK time).

Game 4 GER v ENG 31.03.18

England U16s will contest the bronze medal match at the EU Nations Junior Women’s Tournament after narrowly losing 16-10 (3-2, 4-4, 2-4, 7-0) to Germany on Saturday night.

In a thrilling semi-final, England started strongly again but were denied by the woodwork on several occasions as the Germans edged 7-6 in front by the halfway point.

In the third, England displayed real character to turn the match around and some superb team play ensured they were 10-9 ahead going into the final quarter.

Unfortunately, the Germans’ extra experience showed in the last eight minutes as they regained the lead and were able to close the match out.

Every England player can be proud of their performances here and we now look forward to taking on the hosts Czech Republic for the bronze tomorrow, 10.50am start (UK time).

Game 5 ENG v CZE

BRONZE! England’s U16 women have won the bronze medal at the EU Nations after beating the hosts Czech Republic 8-3 (2-2, 3-0, 3-1, 0-0) in a dramatic final match.

The sensational result sparked wild celebrations in Brno and sealed a podium finish for Sarah Dunsbee’s talented young team in their first ever international tournament.

Having exceeded all expectations against older opposition, our players will fly home full of pride and we now look forward to building towards next year’s European Championships.

This has been another exciting month with City of Manchester pulling off an amazing double victory in the Super 5s as their men’s and women’s teams won their respective super 5 crowns. The men’s event came down to a thrilling finale with City of Manchester playing Polytechnic for a winner takes all showdown. City of Manchester secured a 15-12 victory over last year’s champions to take the crown while Sutton & Cheam secured their place in the Champions Cup with a 5-9 victory over Cheltenham and Welsh Wanderers took the third spot.
