GBR Senior Mens Results

For the first two decades of the 20^th century, the Great Britain Men’s team was regarded as the best Water Polo team in the world. The Great Britain Senior Men’s team dominated the sport internationally, winning Olympic Gold medals in 1900, 1908, 1912, 1916, and 1920.

More recently, the Great Britain Senior Men’s team competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, placing 5^th in their group.  However, UK Sport funding for the Great Britain Senior teams was cut from £4.5 million to nil following the 2012 Olympic Games, and the Great Britain Senior Men’s team was disbanded.

Five years later in 2017, with the development of new and strong leadership of the sport in the Home Nations, the re-emergence of a new group of young GBR senior players resulted in a GBR team under the auspices of British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) entering the 2017 World University Games (WUGs) in Chinese Taipei raising the prospect of a return by GBR Senior Men to LEN and FINA competitions.
