Game 1, ISR v GBR

Great Britain’s U17s started their European Qualifying campaign with a narrow 9-7 (4-1, 0-1, 5-2, 0-3) defeat to Israel.

After a tough opening eight minutes, Phil Powell’s youngsters responded superbly to win the second quarter 1-0 and reduce the deficit to 4-2 at the turnaround.

Great Britain worked the ball well and continued to cause Israel problems in the third and were unfortunate to find themselves 9-4 down going into the final period.

Supported by a passionate home crowd, GB finished strongly by firing in three unanswered goals to give Israel a real scare, but it just wasn’t enough to take the points.
