GB Senior Women

The Great Britain Senior Women’s team competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, placing 8th overall in what was the team’s Olympic debut.

However, UK Sport funding for the Great Britain Senior teams was cut from £4.5 million to nil following the 2012 Olympic Games. As such, the Great Britain Senior Women’s team was in a period of stasis.

However with the energy and commitment of a new volunteer Management Group established in 2015, the Great Britain Senior Women’s team was restarted in 2017 and the future now looks promising

Phil Winstanley resigns from the Water Polo Management Group



In a surprise announcement today, Phil Winstanley, who took the lead on Performance Pathway for Swim England’s Water Polo Management Group, tells us that he has decided to step down from the volunteer Group after more than 3 years in post. Phil told us, “I have had a fantastic few years watching polo and the last few years trying to make a difference. There are an unbelievable number of dedicated volunteers in this sport who are giving up significant time for the sport they love.
