GBR Senior Women

The Great Britain Senior Women’s team competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, placing 8th overall in what was the team’s Olympic debut.

However, UK Sport funding for the Great Britain Senior teams was cut from £4.5 million to nil following the 2012 Olympic Games. As such, the Great Britain Senior Women’s team was in a period of stasis.

However with the energy and commitment of a new volunteer Management Group established in 2015, the Great Britain Senior Women’s team was restarted in 2017 and the future now looks promising

Great Britain finished their World Cup Division Two campaign on a high with a hard-fought 13-12 (3-4, 3-1, 6-3, 1-4) victory over Portugal on Sunday afternoon in Malta. Theo Nousios’ squad took control after the first quarter, but had to dig deep in the fourth to secure seventh place overall, as the Portuguese fought back to level late on. Izzy Howe was the hero, sending in an exquisite lob shot with 1:07 remaining to win the game.
