LEN to provide leadership to transform global water polo -

At the recent LEN Water Polo Meeting, held in Ostia, Italy, Europe demonstrated its readiness to take water polo into a new dimension. The Euopean governing body for Aquatics showed itself ready to offer the experience, knowledge and any other tools required to widen the global basis of water polo, and to transform it to a highly successful discipline.

During the LEN Water Polo Meeting in Ostia (ITA), representatives of 20 nations agreed that changing the technical rules was not among the primary targets, but the main issue was to decide together how top level water polo could become more attractive for the TV viewers and the fans, and how the sport could be developed in areas where grassroots polo was weak or didn’t exist at all. LEN agreed the formation of 2 high level committees, one to shape a common European vision on the future development and marketing strategies of the sport, and the other to determine the continent’s viewpoint on the possible rule changes.
