Enfield Water Polo’s Fred Willey and Alex Waller

There are still some awards being given to our talented players.  We would like to congratulate Enfield Water Polo junior Alex Waller, who was named Enfield’s 2016/17 Player of the Year at the Annual Dinner in February.  The talented youngster has led the first team to numerous victories throughout 2016 and was also selected for the GB Under-19 team.  Alex is the third member of his family to receive the prestigious trophy and follows in the footsteps of his father, Martin and older brother, Richard.

Millie Boucher

Congratulations also to Millie Boucher of Worcester Crocodiles and Cheltenham S&WPC who has been awarded Junior Female Sports Achiever of the Year for the county of Herefordshire.

We have noticed that Hillingdon Water Polo Club’s U12 team is celebrating a good win over Ealing Water Polo Club earlier this month, and we feature a picture of the guys in our club news header this month.  Well done and good to see that all your hard work is paying off!

At England Water Polo Club News we are always pleased to help promote clubs.  Please see the invitation to join a new Water Polo club at High Wycombe.  It is for players aged 11 and older.  To join you need to be able to swim a minimum of 100 metres and tread water for at least 3 minutes.  Initially the squad will start off as a “training” group to learn and practice water polo skills.  As membership increases the club will look to split the offering to Juniors and Seniors along with launching additional sessions per week.  The longer-term aim is to develop competive Junior and Senior Teams.  Each session will be led by England Junior Talent Coach, Petar Momcilovic.  It is great to see new clubs coming on the scene.  If you know anyone who may be interested in joining the club please do let them know.

Lotty Liddell of Camden Water Polo

Back in September we brought you news of a new club setting up Camden.  We are very pleased to report that Camden Water Polo club is going from strength to strength, seeing the number of new members grow and also celebrating its first success story for player Lotty Liddell who was selected to play for the U14 London Girl’s team at the Inter Regionals.

The club is now running an Easter training camp from 3rd to 7th April for ages 2001 and younger (see flier below).  The camp will be based at Highgate School.  If you are interested or if you know someone who may be interested please contact head coach Dariusz Kadziak on camdenwaterpolo@gmail.com.

Kent Development sessions are launching on Saturday 4 March at Swanley Leisure Centre.  These sessions will become exclusively geared towards the inter-county tournaments for the Kent squads for the u14 and U16 aged groups (boys and girls).  If you are in these age groups or know anyone who is please do try and attend.   Other confirmed dates are 25 March and 22 April.

We hope you find this report of interest.  We aim to showcase what has been going on in English Water Polo clubs over the last month and flag up forthcoming events.  If you have any news that you would like to share about your club please contact me at ah@waterpoloengland.org.
