Breaking news: Tim Dunsbee, England and Great Britain senior men’s water polo coach, has resigned from his post with immediate effect -

We are sad to report that Tim Dunsbee, the England and Great Britain senior men’s water polo coach, has resigned from his post with immediate effect.

Tim’s resignation follows the recent news Swim England and British Swimming refused to support his plans for Great Britain entering the FINA 2020 World League Qualification Tournament.

Tim told us, “There has been a total lack of leadership from Swim England and British Swimming which created a leadership vacuum.”

In Tim’s very clearly expressed opinion, “Both Swim England and British Swimming showed a total lack of insight into the management of team sport.” but, “Being the head coach has been a privilege and honour for me. I love our sport but it seems that love is not shared by the National Governing Bodies. I hope my resignation will spark some action from them, and a change in their approach to our sport”

This latest departure leaves both our men’s and women’s senior water polo teams without a head coach, following Theo Nousios’ resignation in March after Swim England and British Swimming’s failure to back his proposal to compete in the LEN European Championships Qualifiers.

Everyone at England Water Polo would like to wish Tim all the best for the future and thank him for all the incredible work he carried out with the senior men’s team, with the highlights being achieving an 8th place finish at the 2017 World University Games with Great Britain, and winning the 2018 EU Nations Cup with England.

Swim England and British Swimming have made no comment on the news, you can read more about Tim’s exit here

Such sad news following on from Theo’s resignation. Who can blame them when there is no interest from Swim England or British Swimming.
It’s an absolute travesty that our talented and dedicated coaches and athletes are treated this way. I foolishly thought that elite sport would be run by elite people. Quite the opposite.

  2. Dave Waller says:

British waterpolo is going nowhere until we break away from
    And stand alone.
