Welcome to our September Club news! -

August is traditionally a quiet month on the domestic competition front as teams enjoy some downtime in advance of the start of the BWPL in September.   It is great to see that many teams have been on tour.  Six players from Newton Abbot were invited on a trip to Ter Apel in the Netherlands to play in the 53rd Zepta Water Polo tournament with Devonport Royal.  Over the weekend the girls played in a number of matches with the Devonport Dragons coming first place in their group, and earning the right to be our featured team this month – well done ladies!  It was a great experience for the girls, travelling across Europe to the tournament.  The weekend also included fantastic post-match parties, karaoke and beach sports!  As ever a big thank you to the coaches and parent volunteer support that made this and all the trips mentioned possible.

World Class water polo came to Scotland as Kirkintilloch & Kilsyth ASC put on their most ambitious water polo camp to date with professional coaches and players from across Europe making their way to Glasgow.  The coaching team included our own Katy Cutler, Mario Sinatra, Mati Ortiz (Olympic Silver Medallist 2012), Nico Fenu, Evan Papadimitriou, Rosa Rogondino, Alan Donaldson and Ali Campbell.  This was the third water polo camp organised by Kirkintilloch & Kilsyth ASC in the last 11 months with each camp building on the successes of the previous camps.  The camps are a great opportunity for the water polo community to come together in a safe, inclusive and environment designed for learning.    Players came from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Sweden to attend the camp.  For full details please see the link https://communitywaterpolo.uk/?page_id=33

West London Penguin Juniors attended a Water Polo Academy with CN Posillipo.  An amazing opportunity to play the sport you love in iconic surroundings.  Another fabulous opportunity seized by talented athletes.

The very popular Lyme Splash took place this month with 18 teams playing in 40 matches at the Cobb in Lyme Regis.  Congratulations to Cwm Draig Water Polo Club who were the worthy winners.
