Great Britain’s women made it two wins from two in Porto with a sensational 10-8 (2-2, 1-2, 4-2, 3-2) victory over Spain (in the form of elite Spanish Division One side Escuela Waterpolo Zaragoza).

Despite trailing 4-3 at the turnaround, Great Britain outclassed their older and more experienced opponents in the third and fourth quarters to secure the remarkable win.

Great Britain’s final game in Portugal was against the hosts 16.12.18, 9am start.

Game 3 GBR v Portugal 16.12.18

CHAMPIONS! Great Britain’s women were crowned champions in Portugal after a sensational 13-10 (2-3, 5-3, 3-3, 3-1) victory over the hosts early on Sunday morning.

A thoroughly professional performance from Great Britain, who kept their nerve in front of a large partisan crowd to edge a thrilling end-to-end battle here in Porto.

The outstanding result maintained Great Britain’s 100% record at this International Invitational Tournament after triumphs over Slovakia 11-6 (3-1, 3-2, 1-2, 4-1) and Spain 10-8 (2-2, 1-2, 4-2, 3-2 – in the form of elite Spanish Division One side Escuela Waterpolo Zaragoza).

Congratulations to all the players, Head Coach Theo Nousios, Assistant Coach Chloe Wilcox and Team Manager David Teasdale.

Plus, a huge thanks to our travelling FINA and LEN referee Mike Jukes, all the support here in the stands and from back home. 👍💪
